The financially troubled Balcony Club owes its landlord $18,000, but they haven’t been locked out yet. And they’re negotiating to stay open.
The club adjacent to the Lakewood Theater was closed Wednesday and Thursday, but it will be open this weekend with owner Tommy Stanco tending bar. The club took $5,000 during a benefit party last Saturday. It was the most the club has ever made in one night, Stanco says. But he’s not paying the landlord yet.
“It’s kind of a standoff,” he says. “We don’t want to pay them if they’re just going to lock us out the next day.”
Stanco says he has a few potential investors, and he hopes to negotiate a deal with the property owner next week.
“We’re really jubilant and optimistic,” he says.
