Neighbors have a chance to share their bike-share likes and dislikes at an event tonight at 7 p.m. at Oddfellows.
The Ticket’s Craig Miller, a Muser and avid cyclist who once tweeted that the rental bikes were turning Dallas into a junkyard, will lead the discussion. Councilman Philip Kingston, a proponent of the dockless cycles, and Adam Fleo, the general manager of LimeBike Dallas, will join him.
The discussion is hosted by The Better Block, a local nonprofit that “educates, equips, and empowers communities and their leaders” to grow healthy and vibrant neighborhoods, according to its website.
The Better Block will also debut a “mobility parklet,” which allows communities to remake single parking spaces into an area for seating, landscaping, bicycle parking and more. The concept is meant to shift the focus from vehicle traffic to pedestrian use, while helping people enjoy being outside.
The rental bikes have long been a hot topic, and the City Council’s Mobility Solutions, Infrastructure, and Sustainability Committee will make recommendations later this month about what should be done about the bikes.
