A neighbor called the police after he saw an individual start a fire early Tuesday in Little Forest Hills.
Joe Spector was video editing in his home at 2 a.m. when he saw the person walking around his courtyard, “messing around” by a trash can full of leaves, he said. He walked away from the courtyard and started a fire.
The area, near the Dallas Arboretum, is heavily natured, with homes full of mature trees.
The individual was watching a video on his phone during the incident, Spector said.
Spector called the police, but the man, who was traveling on foot, was gone by the time they arrived.
