East Dallas neighbor and street photographer Richard Hill has been almost obsessively documenting life in East Dallas for three years. He always has his camera with him, ready to capture a passing moment. Hill’s photos usually center around a person or people going about life in East Dallas or downtown. “It’s the human condition. Everyone is on this journey, and I’m just taking shots of people on this journey,” Hill explains.

Later this week, Thursday, Feb. 26, St. Matthew’s Cathedral Arts is hosting an opening reception for “Common Exposures: A Photographic Exhibit,” which will run until March 26 to display Hill’s work.

The event listing explains that Hill’s “passion for this genre of photography was born out of love for his native East Dallas and the people and places that influenced his life. His work aims to show the lovely and the derelict, the dignity and the irony, the pain and the joy of everyday life: the people and moments that are easily forgotten, missed, and dismissed.”
