Lincoln Property Co.’s Robert Dozier had hoped to have a deal more than three months ago on a restaurant for the build-to-suit 6,000-square-foot space next to Lakewood Ace Hardware. “Lakefront” obviously is tongue-in-cheek, but the restaurant and ample patio, as depicted in Lincoln’s plans, would sit close to the new path connecting to the trail system around White Rock Lake.

We were told La Madeleine was a candidate for the spot; a company spokeswoman says she doesn’t know of a new Dallas La Madeleine at this point. Dozier originally had mentioned a Katy Trail Ice House-type restaurant there; we contacted general manager Jimmy Fell, who didn’t get back to us. Dozier also did not respond to questions about the restaurant.

Though it’s not the largest space at the center, it would be the largest restaurant, and especially because of its proximity to the trail connection, it’s important, says Matt Lucas, whose Luke’s Locker store should open at Arboretum Village in April.

“They need to nail a good restaurant there on the corner that will overlook part of the lake,” Lucas says. “I hope they get the right atmosphere there because that will be a huge draw.”

Lincoln has filled most of the shopping center with retailers; only the restaurant space on the north end and a space on the south end remain unknown.
