The fair is a one-stop shop event — complete with free health, dental and vision screenings, immunizations, haircuts, school supplies (for qualifying participants) and more. According to a press release, there will be educational information and services, in English and Spanish, offered at dozens of community resource booths on topics such as crime prevention, fire safety, parenting, health, nutrition and more. Dallas ISD staff will answer questions and distribute information on magnet schools, psychological and social services, family literacy and college-readiness programs.

The Mayor’s Back To School Fair is a collaborative effort between the City of Dallas, Dallas ISD, Dallas-area schools, the public health department, state agencies, nonprofits, corporations and volunteers.

Opening ceremonies will begin at 7:35 a.m. Afterwards, from 8-8:30 a.m., Rawlings will greet parents and students and be available for questions.
