The film is scheduled to release in spring 2014. You can follow the updates on the Stanley Marcus Documentary Facebook page.

Marcus’ Lakewood home went on the market at $5.4 million after renovations and a hard-fought battle to keep it from being torn down. The house received historic designation in 2010. Word around town is that the film crew was shooting at the house a couple of weeks ago.

The Dallas-based M3 Films recently wrapped shooting around Europe, with help from a Kickstarter campaign. The film features interviews with famous Italian fashion designers, including Massimo Ferragamo, Rosita Missoni and Laudomia Pucci, who credit Marcus with helping expand their brands to the American market. Philanthropist Margaret McDermott also makes an appearance.

In addition to his international reach, the documentary looks at Marcus’ relationship with Dallas — which quickly became known for Neiman Marcus — featuring never-before-seen footage from SMU’s DeGolyer Library.
