I recently ran into Troy Aikman and Patricia Hardemann (not together) at the Fog City Diner in something of a California convergence.
Aikman was back from the Super Bowl, and Hardemann was back (for good) to choreograph the upcoming Woodrow Wilson musical.
She informed me that for the first time since “Where’s Charley?”, the show will be a drag. That is, except for a few football players performing the traditional sweetheart spoof.
A real drag, “Sugar” is based on the movie “Some Like It Hot” and will be performed March 2-5 at Woodrow. Sugar was the name of the Marilyn Monroe character who was in the all-girl band with Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis.
The last line in the movie is when Joe E. Brown is motorboating away with Jack Lemmon: “I can’t marry you – I’m really a man,” Jack says as he doffs his wig.
“Nobody’s perfect,” replies Mr. Brown.
Pick of the Litter
Someone who will definitely never be confused with a man is alumna Nancy Hardwick Parrish ’76. The former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader recently went to pick up her daughter, Madelyn, a student at Woodrow.
Nancy was sent home by principal Eduardo Torres for wearing shorts. He thought she was a student.
“They were both embarrassed,” says PTA president Ralphana Barnes.
