Wabi House, a modern Japanese restaurant located at 1802 Greenville that will be home to craft cocktails, small plates and ramen, has been a longtime dream for chef Dien Nguyen.

It doesn’t officially open until Saturday, June 27, with normal business hours, but it hosted a soft opening last night from 7-9 p.m. to give the Wabi team some practice and “tweaking time.”

The hope is for the restaurant to be a place for late-night diners and foodies. In the beginning the restaurant won’t be open passed midnight because of issues with the special use permit on Lowest Greenville, explains Wabi House spokeswoman Teresa Nguyen. So it will open at 11 a.m. and close at midnight.

“This is disappointing for Chef Dien and the Wabi team,” Nguyen says, “but they are taking the necessary steps needed and have declared a ‘ramen hour’ in the meantime to make up for that inconvenience.”

Until the grand opening on Saturday, the restaurant will open at 5 p.m. Then it will begin opening at 11 a.m.

On opening day, 100 percent of the food sales will benefit Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort WorthThe Stewpot and the AFFD – The Asian Film Festival of Dallas.

Walk-ins are welcomed but reservations are highly recommended and can be made online at www.wabihouse.com.
