The State Fair of Texas‘ annual Pete Schenkel Scholarship Awards will be presented to six Woodrow Wilson High School seniors Monday during a program at the Music Hall at Fair Park. Dylan Carter, David Graham, Lorena Gutierrez, Ana Harris, August Vanderford and Emily Ziegler have won $5,000 scholarships — payable in annual installments of $1,250 provided the students maintain a 3.0 GPA and as long as they are enrolled in a Texas university or community college.
The Woodrow seniors join 27 other seniors from high schools near Fair Park, including Irma L. Rangel Women’s Leadership School and James Madison, Lincoln and North Dallas high schools. The Fair also presents scholarships to students throughout the state who have participated in State Fair livestock shows. More than $2.8 million has been given to students through the scholarship programs since 1992.
