Love Art?  This weekend at the Bath House Cultural Center check out the Art Mart. Originated in 2003, the Art Mart is a three-day special featuring various types of artwork. From painting to photography, and pottery the Art Mart is a chance to see and appreciate lots of local artist. The event’s proceeds will go towards the Bath House Cultural Center.  This event is open all weekend, Friday from 7-9 p.m and Saturday and Sunday from noon-6 p.m.

More music is also happening at St. Matthews Cathedral during their Dallas Bach Society‘s free family concert. Johann Sebastian Bach: Suites for Unaccompanied Cello takes place at 4 p.m. on Sunday when Eric Smith steps on the church’s stage to bring back the timeless pieces. Ready for Christmas? This Friday, Nov. 18, at the Dallas Children’s Theater, is the opening both “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “The Nutcracker.”  The two shows are a classic holiday treat, with “The Nutcracker” told through puppetry instead of ballet. Get all of the showtimes and tickets here.

This Sunday, head on over to Half Price Books to enjoy great stories from a wide range of acclaimed storytellers.  The event is called “Tellabration” and is celebrated worldwide.  From 7-9 p.m. head over to enjoy an evening of stories.

The Contemporary Theatre of Dallas is going back in time to the 1920s with a musical about magic and love. “As We Lie Still” follows a magician looking for his next great illusion with performances running on both Saturday and Sunday. Get the times and learn about the magic here.

If you need some help getting into the holiday spirit then the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden‘s 12 Days of Christmas display should be on the list. The exhibit, which runs until Jan. 8, follows the well-known song with elaborate setups of pipers piping, swans-a-swimming and a few gold rings. If you’re not quite ready to dive into the Christmas season this Saturday you can immerse yourself in English history. The Dallas Arboretum will hosting British author and historian, Adrian Tinniswood, to talk about life in English country homes as WWI loomed in the distance. Tinniswood’s lecture, which is free with paid garden admission, is from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Rosine Hall. Anglophiles can learn more about the event at the arboretum’s website.

Need a big bowl of chili to fight the winter cold? Truck Yard has you covered with an event that will cause a showdown between some of the neighborhood’s best chefs, including Graham Dodds of Wayward Sons and Danyele McPherson of HG Sply Co. and Remedy. On Sunday from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m., the second annual Chili Cook Off takes place. Tickets are $15 and include two beers and five chili samples, as well all the festivities.
