February is all about matters of the heart — not only is it Valentine’s Day, it’s Heart Health Month. But here in East Dallas, it’s “El Corazón.” The exhibition of heart-shaped art led by area artist Jose Vargas is now in its 23rd year, and looking for entries.
The rules are simple. The artwork can be in any medium, from painting to sculpture to found objects, it just must feature a heart and be an original design. No entry fee is required, but artists must submit a photo and entry form to join — get all the details here. The deadline to enter is at midnight on Saturday, Jan. 7.
Vargas will review all of the entries to curate a collection of locally produced art that showcases a wide range of talents. It will be on display at the Bath House Cultural Center from Feb. 4-March 4, anytime the center is open to the public. All artwork is available for purchase.
