This came after the City Plan Commission unanimously approved the renewal on Dec. 15, 2022.

The original story, published Aug. 15, 2022, is below.

Ships Lounge, a dive bar at the corner of Ross Avenue and Greenville Avenue, is requesting a renewal of its late-hours permit.

The Dallas City Council approved a specific use permit for the bar in 2020, allowing it to stay open until 2 a.m. That permit expired in January 2021.

Then last year, the City Council amended the ordinance, and the expiration date for the late-hours permit was set to Jan. 27, 2023.

The most recent request, if approved, would allow the bar to continue operating past midnight.

No date has been published yet as to when this case will go before the City Plan Commission.

Ships Lounge is located in a strip center, along with Bonafide Barber, Vivian’s, Milk and Cream, and Toasted. Taquero sits on the opposite side of the parking lot.
