Toasted Coffee + Kitchen is scheduled to open on Thursday, Sept. 15, according to Gary Buckner, the general contractor handling the new restaurant. Originally Toasted was slated for a summer opening. The much anticipated new spot is the brain child of neighbors Bob Sinnott and Joel Roldan.

The restaurant, located at 5420 Ross, is currently under construction right next to Milk • Cream, which held its grand opening on Saturday. The new frozen treat shop features ice cream sandwiched between a sweet and flaky pastry bun. They’re open from noon-10 p.m.

There’s no word yet on when Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen on Gaston is opening, but there are signs hanging up announcing that they’re currently hiring. Construction is underway at the site, and, from the looks of the boarded up building, they might be installing a garage door — like the one at their McKinney location — that can be opened up on nice days. It looks like they can install it without taking down the Dixie House clock.

Greenville Avenue Pizza Company is hosting the third annual Slices for Supplies event tonight. Anyone who brings school supplies between 6-8 p.m. can get a free slice of pizza. School supplies and monetary donations will go to benefit Ignacio Zaragoza Elementary School. GAPCO also will match any monetary donations made to the school.
