  • Joseph Ritter, a power forward for the Woodrow Wilson High School Wildcats, has committed to the Cornell basketball program for next fall.  The 6’8″ 240-pound senior is ranked by TexasHoops.com and Max Preps.
  • Woodrow Wilson High School is performing “The Nutcracker” today, Dec. 9 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Woodrow Wilson High School.
  • The Woodrow Band is also playing a winter concert on Thursday, Dec. 11 from 7 p.m. to 9 pm. at the high school. The concert is free, but they ask you bring a toy donation for Toys for Tots.
  • Lakewood Elementary PTA is launching an opportunity for families to order fresh, organic, locally-grown produce boxes to be picked up at the school. For each box ordered, $10 goes back to Lakewood Elementary.
  • The Dallas Marathon, which will be held Sunday, Dec. 14, goes by Woodrow and J.L. Long, so the schools aim to “seize this opportunity” to be able to represent their schools and show the community their spirit. To do so, they ask that parents consider letting their students cheer along the route. They figure runners will start running by the schools at around 9:40 a.m., with a big rush around 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., then slow and steady from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • The Stonewall Gardens Family Campaign kicked off and will run through Jan. 31. The Family Campaign is the largest source of funding for the garden program, which is operated completely by donations to Stonewall Gardens. It costs nearly $150 per student each year to provide this hands-on, multi-sensory, science program for Stonewall Stars. Contact Kathryn Peters, Campaign Chair, at stonewall.gardens@yahoo.com with questions.
