Woodrow Wilson High School’s band, led by Director Chris Evetts (who we featured last fall), scored a clean UIL Sweepstakes. This means they were given top marks in marching, concert and sight-reading, which is a first for the school. Evetts reports that this is a first for any Dallas ISD school in many years.

On the track, the Wildcats continue to push past the competition, qualifying several athletes for regionals. Woodrow’s 4×100 sprint team placed first in the area meet. The team is made up of Tavorice Weaver, Sean Berry, Xavier Gipson and Travis West. Calista Segura and Reaves Fennegan were first and second in the 800-meter run at the area meet. Segura also won the 1600 and 3200. Nadia Carney and Xavier Gipson both placed second in the 100-meter dash and Parker Wrench was 2nd in the area for high jump.

They will compete at the UIL regional meet at UT Arlington’s Maverick Stadium April 27-28.
