Welcome back to school season. In case you didn’t know, Dallas ISD started yesterday, Aug. 26. Here’s a roundup of some school news bites for the upcoming week you might need to know:
- Interesting factoid: The number of students who attended school in Dallas ISD yesterday is the highest first-day total in at least 13 years, according to DISD. Schools reported 143,412 students were in school Monday, an increase of 4,204 students over last year. Dallas ISD projects to reach a total enrollment this school year of approximately 159,000 students.
- If your child will be playing any sport at J. L. Long Middle School this year, there will be a mandatory safety meeting today, Aug. 27, immediately after school in the gym until 5 p.m. Before practicing or playing, all athletes must have a physical and this form completed. - Stonewall Jackson Elementary School is hosting a Kinder Parent Volunteer Meeting this Friday, Aug. 30 at 8 a.m. in the cafeteria. Room parents will be selected during the meeting as well. Check out their website and Facebook page for more.
