Here’s a roundup of some interesting school news bites you might need to know for the upcoming week:

  • Stonewall Gardens is running for a $15,000 Gardens are Good grant, and they need your vote. The application is complete, so all they need now is for community members to vote every day through Sept. 30 in order to catapult them into the top 5 spot. Click here to vote.
  • Last week I mentioned that Lakewood Elementary is taking part in the Target Give-Away promotion. I found out Lipscomb Elementary is also a part of that, so I suspect other schools are as well. You can vote for your school once a week until Sept. 21, and each time you do, the school gets $1.
  • If you are already have a username and password for Dallas ISD’s Parent Portal, you can continue to use that for the 2013-2014 school year. If you what to learn more about Parent Portal, click here. You can also download a Parent Portal app on your phone.
  • You can now sign up for Lipscomb Elementary’s Blacktop and Blues event, which is a Food Truck Rally on Oct. 4 to benefit the school. They are also looking for volunteers to help with the event, if you’re interested.
  • Someone started a Wikipedia page for Woodrow Wilson High School (Dallas) alumni, although so far there isn’t much on it.
