Pietro’s Italian Restaurant has been on Richmond for so long, it has become a given. For more than 50 years it has been serving the East Dallas community classic italian dishes like spaghetti and meatballs and chicken parmesan.
We even included Pietro’s in our article, “Dang, that place is still there?” in October, about places that have been on Greenville for a mind-bogglingly long time.
But now owners Pietro and Grace Eustachio are preparing to pack up the red and white checkered tablecloths and close the place down. They’ve decided to retire, so they’ve put the property up for lease.
Pietro Eustachio and his parents, Salvatore and Rosalia, originally established the restaurant as a pizzeria along Lowest Greenville. But then in 1972, Pietro and his wife, Grace, moved the restaurant to Richmond and expanded the concept to an Italian restaurant.
Pietro bought the property, tore down the existing duplexes and built the restaurant from the ground up. He also built an apartment above it, where he and his wife raised their children.
In that time, Pietro has watched neighborhood families grow up. Children who used to visit the restaurant started visiting with their children. “I’ve got people who come from all over Dallas,” he says.
There’s no set date for when the restaurant will close, just whenever someone leases it.
