Got a phone call from Sam Coats yesterday, inviting me to his town hall meeting at 7 tonight at the Big Thicket recreation center at White Rock Lake. Sam told me he is going to save us from coal plants, McMansions and the Trinity River toll road.

This was one of those recorded calls, of course, but it was intriguing nonetheless. I actually listened to th entire message. Coats, the former corporate bigwig, has decided to focus his campaign on neighborhood issues. This makes him almost completely different from everyone else in the race, who are campaigning on whatever issues their media gurus tell them will scare voters.

Is Coats serious abut this, or is he just trying to differentiate himself? Your guess is as good as mine. It will be worth hearing him explain himself.
