A McKinney-based America restaurant will open its second location on Lower Greenville, with a new cocktail bar next door, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Rye will open at 1920 Greenville Ave. in the former Laurel Tavern, and Apothecary — a high-energy bar from the same owners — will be located at 1922 Greenville Ave. in the former Wah Wah Room, according to the Morning News. Laurel Tavern and Wah Wah Room closed in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Apothecary is scheduled to open in April with Rye following a month later, the newspaper reported.

Rye opened in downtown McKinney in 2015 but closed two years later. Co-owners Taylor Rause, Nic Cain and Tanner Agar reopened the restaurant in 2018 as a small-plates eatery focused on locally sourced products.

The menu includes burnt orange-braised pork belly lollipops, cacio e pepe pasta and brunch items like the bacon Nutella short stack.

Apothecary will be the opposite of Rye with over-the-top cocktails made with unusual flavors, the Morning News reported.
