For four years, Ruby’s Sno-Balls has served New Orleans-style shave ice from its walk-up location at 1605 N. Haskell Ave. But the business unexpectedly lost that space over the summer and ran into zoning problems with the City when it tried to open a new location, according to an Instagram post.

“All signs point to taking a step back at this time,” the post reads. “As for the future, who can say? Hopefully I will have good Ruby-related news to share with y’all at some point. For now, I need to pack it up. Thank you for coming out and standing in line with your neighbors and for loving our sno-balls. You will be missed.”

Ruby’s attracted crowds when it opened in 2016 serving unique flavors like honeysuckle, Vietnamese ice coffee and spiced honey orange.
