The much-anticipated premiere of a documentary produced by rapper Common and former NBA players Dwyane Wade and Grant Hill won’t be released publicly until SXSW on March 16.
But thanks to Dallas United Crew, Dallas neighbors will get to see it first.
The rowing club will show a private screening of “A Most Beautiful Thing” on March 4 at the Angelika Film Center at Mockingbird Station.
The documentary tells the story of young men in rival gangs on the west side of Chicago who came together to form the first African-American high school rowing team in the United States.
It is based on the memoir of rower Arshay Cooper, who will be at the event to lead a panel discussion.
Former NBA players Dwyane Wade and Grant Hill, who owns the Atlanta Hawks, are executive producers on the project. Common, who narrates the film, and 9th Wonder, a Grammy Award-winning producer known for his cultural impact on hip hop, are also executive producers.
