14575_545377395490145_1588448311_nIn April we shared a fun tip about how to hit up the Ali Baba Mediterranean lunch buffet on the cheap.

One of our readers commented that the menus say Terra, so last week I grabbed a plate, loaded it up with some falafel and veggies, and began to investigate.

One of the employees told me that the menus say Terra “because the owners (Adam and Jalal Channa) couldn’t decide which name they liked better” which sounded like an interesting theory, but after a few phone calls I was able to speak with a spokeswoman to get the real story. She shared that the Terra menus are borrowed from the restaurant by the same name, which is a sister restaurant to Ali Baba and has two locations in Irving and Ft. Worth. Terra and Ali Baba have the same menu, same prices, and the spokeswoman said that “the only difference between the two restaurants is the name.”

I was kind of hoping that maybe Ali Baba would remodel, but the spokeswoman said that the Terra menus are temporary until Ali Baba spruces up their old menus, and when that happens it will be back to Ali Baba business as usual. Also, I confirmed that there are no plans on expansion of the Channa brother’s latest Mediterranean concept, Grip, into Lakewood at this time.
