Cajun food is not my favorite. I don’t care for gumbo, and I don’t believe the jambalaya hype. But I will mess with some boudin balls, and no one knows how to cook okra like Cajuns.

Alligator Café

at 8:55 p.m. and noticed that they close at 9 p.m. We decided it would be rude to go in and dirty up a table right before they close, so we did the drive-through. Yes, Cajun-food lovers. Now you know — fresh, hot Cajun food from the drive-through.

I ordered an oyster po’ boy, which was served on a ginormous roll with lots of hot fried oysters. My sandwich was served dry, and I added some mayo when I got it home. Next time, I’m going to ask for tartar sauce and Tabasco. But I am going back for this sandwich for sure.

My friend ordered jambalaya, and he says he can’t recommend it. But we ordered boudin balls and fried okra, which were hot, crispy and fried in clean grease. I even put one of leftover balls in my scrambled eggs the next morning. Believe the Cajun breakfast hype.
