I am all for red light cameras, but only if they are fair. Twice in the last week, I have "run a red light" at Mockingbird and Abrams. I feel like a sitting duck waiting for my ticket(s) in the mail.

The first time, I was 2nd in line (turning west onto Mockingbird from south Abrams) behind a dump truck which slipped a gear and almost stopped in the intersection.  I was a dead duck as I waited for him to go. The second time in the same turn lane, which I was also second in line, I somehow did not make it through in time. After thinking I was just a bad driver, I started to watch that intersection and that protected turn arrow is only long enough for one car to make it through and the 2nd car turning onto Mockingbird ALWAYS runs the red light. I am now convinced that intersection is rigged. The green arrow is way too short as it should allow more than one car through and then the yellow arrow is too short leaving too many cars a dead duck and the driver lighter in the wallet.

So tonight, I was second in line again and watched the car in front of me turn left while I sat back in the turn lane, protecting my wallet while the car behind me honked.  Sure enough, the 1st car in front of me barely made it through. I would have been popped.

Just not right…..Use the red light cameras to catch those people blatantly running red lights, not those citizens who are caught in a timing trap.
