Reading Partners, a community-driven organization that pairs students with volunteer reading tutors, will launch at Geneva Heights Elementary this fall.
Geneva Heights is one of three schools, including Tom C. Gooch and Leonides Gonzalez Cigarroa, where the program will launch for the first time.
Program administrators and volunteers attended open houses and worked collaboratively with school officials prior to the program’s implementation.
Reading Partners mobilizes community members to provide students with individual support they need to read at grade level by fourth grade. Volunteers work with students for 45 minutes twice a week and follow a structured curriculum.
