The silence has been broken. On March 6 we posted a story about neighbors worrying about undisclosed plans for new development in Hollywood-Santa Monica neighborhood. In response, Megatel Homes president Aaron Ipour contacted us today:

“I am not aware of anyone from your association or community waiting on a phone call from my office. I am so sorry if we missed any communication,” Ipour wrote, adding, “They may have called my sales people, but all I talked to so far was a homeowner in Lakewood who got some plan and pricing information.”

Ipour further explained that he is currently working with a “well-known architect” to develop several Tudor-style floor plans that will “pass all [his emphasis] conservation restrictions and should be complete in the next 30 days.” Ipour even said that he would be willing to attend Hollywood-Santa Monica Neighborhood Association quarterly meetings and share his initial floor plans with them.

Ipour’s response to neighborhood concern is the type of feedback that helps residents have a voice in development discussions, have a sense of pride in their community, and ultimately feel that they are able to influence their neighborhood for the long haul. Perhaps critics of Rick Wamre’s interest in Lincoln’s development plans for Gaston-Garland-Grand can take note.
