After collecting thousands of dollars in donations at its annual fundraiser in late February, the Pre-Geneva Association is making sure that money is being put to good use. The organization, which provides a forum for expectant parents and families with children under the age of 5, has donated more than $5,000 to help families through the coronavirus pandemic.

  • The group has donated $3,500 to local peace pantries. Before spring break, Pre-Geneva gave $1,000 to help with food packs for Geneva Heights kiddos. Another $2,500 was donated to the reorganized feeder-pattern pantry at J.L. Long Middle School. The newly merged pantry still benefits Geneva Heights, as well as any feeder-pattern families in need.
  • Pre-Geneva bought $550 worth of breakfast tacos for frontline responders at Parkland Hospital’s emergency department and COVID-19 unit.
  • The organization gave $500 to Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center. Pre-Geneva supported the center with various diaper drives in 2019. “We felt now was a great time to lend our support again, especially with the recent uptick in child abuse cases,” Pre-Geneva spokeswoman Leah Ekmark Williams said.
  • Pre-Geneva purchased $520 worth of Amazon gift cards, which the Geneva Heights PTA matched, to support 53 Geneva Heights teachers and staff.
  • New sound equipment valued at approximately $1,500 will be put to good use at Geneva Heights come fall 2020.
  • Pre-Geneva donated $1,870 for Junior Players’ winter class through spring break. Junior Players is an after-school theater program for kindergarteners through second-graders that Pre-Geneva previously paid for at the school in fall 2019.
