The victims were identified as Felicia Jones, 46, and her adult daughter, Tracy Evans, 26.

According to the arrest warrant, the incident began about 4:20 p.m. on Monday in a home that the Dallas Morning News says belongs to Brown’s grandfather, who was reportedly in a live-in relationship with Jones. The couple got into a verbal fight, and when Brown arrived, he asked his grandfather if he wanted Jones removed from the house at 2728 Millmar Drive. Brown then began removing Jones’ personal property, placing it on the sidewalk. As Brown and Jones argued outside, Evans arrived on the scene.

According to witness testimony, Jones then picked up a hammer in one hand and another weapon, possibly an axe, in the other, and began smashing cars on the street. That caused Brown to come out of the house with a 9mm handgun, which he shot several times in the air before retreating back inside. Jones used the hammer to smash a glass door, entered the home and allegedly punched Brown’s grandfather, at which point the grandfather reported hearing someone say, “I’ll shoot you.” Moments later, witnesses heard multiple gunshots fired inside the residence.

A woman walking passed saw Brown and another man leave the scene in a car the Dallas Morning News is reporting as a blue Dodge Caliber with Texas license plate CXN-7974. She then saw the two victims and called 911.

Police suspect that Evans got caught in the crossfire when Brown was shooting at Jones. Brown’s grandfather is not being charged in the case.
