Every Tuesday and Thursday through July 4, the Dallas Arboretum hosts local bands at the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn. Doors open at 6 p.m. and visitors file in by the droves, weighed down like pack animals with coolers, blankets and folding chairs. The lawn continues to fill up until 7:30 p.m. when the band starts jamming. As they play, groups chat with each other and enjoy the music as they watch the sun sink behind White Rock Lake. Oftentimes, kids entertain themselves by dancing with streamers in front of the stage, and after a while, adults start to trickle over for a dance or two as well.

Last Thursday, May 30, Satisfaction, a Rolling Stones cover band, played at the Arboretum. Photographer Katie Bernet attended the show and sent these photos from the show.

She writes: “Although it was a little hot out, it was a great night for a concert at the Arboretum. Everyone had their own picnic setup from a simple blanket to foldable tables, chairs and melamine wine glasses. Satisfaction was a very believable tribute to the Rolling Stones and everyone seemed to enjoy the music. I enjoyed shooting the concert because the venue was beautiful and everyone was so welcoming. Cris, the woman in charge of coordinating the concert was incredibly kind and everyone in attendance was happy to be photographed.”

For a line-up of future bands, see the Dallas Arboretum website.
