Society Bakery 10Society Bakery opened for business on Greenville beside Green Grocer on Dec. 19, and founding owner Roshi Muns is already working on the new menu, experimenting with various possible items. And yes, there are samples available for bums at heart, like myself.

The quaint location is reminiscent of the original space they left behind just a few blocks down the road, which Unrefined Bakery nabbed as soon as Muns and her team packed up. The new space is defined by bold red walls, offset by softer pink and green accents, giving it the same cozy feel as before — only it’s bigger. Much bigger. There’s room in the front for guests to hang out at one of the tables, or they can walk back and peek over a half-wall into the kitchen, to watch the bakers spin their sugary magic.

Muns has her eyes on a few more tweaks she’d like to make at the new space, such as new counters. “It’s pretty, but I see all these things I can do to improve it,” she says, looking around. She’s particularly excited about the new patio area out front, which she plans to deck with lounge-worthy patio furniture before warmer weather makes its way back to Dallas.

Not only does the location provide more work space, but it also has more designated parking, which Muns says was greatly needed. Plus, the new lease doesn’t restrict what menu items Society can offer, she says.

Of course, they still offer the usual cupcakes and custom cakes that have always been the company’s bread and butter. But now Society will also offer coffee and espresso drinks, muffins, breads, bagels, pies, and various lunch options, such as soups, salads and sandwiches.

Already, Muns has new maple scones, bran muffins, blueberry muffins, cinnamon bread, banana bread, and cupcakes with brand new buttercream frosting available. They’re also partnering with local honey and jam providers.

“We’re stepping it up big time,” she says.
