When Preslie Adams took over Hypnotic Emporium in October 2020, she was confident she could make some improvements.
An injury caused her to open up the business during irregular hours, as she was doing physical therapy. But with help from a designer and an artist, she has been able to transform the ice cream shop on Garland Road.
She took out the brown shelves that were in the middle of the room, added black-and-white tiled flooring, installed a merchant wall and commissioned a mural. (See updates in the photos below.)
The ice cream comes from Beth Marie’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream in Denton.
Adams still has a few more plans she wants to finish, like adding tables to the front of the store, but it’s still a work in progress. She wants to have everything completed for a grand reopening by the end of the year. Check back with the Advocate for updates.
Hypnotic Emporium is located at 9005 Garland Road, Ste. 150. Operating hours are 1-9 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday.Â
