The James Beard Awards, commonly referred to as “the Oscars of food,” established in 1990, recognizes chefs and restaurants on a national level for creating exceptional food and food media content.

Misti Norris, Executive Chef and owner of Petra and the Beast, is up for Best Chef: Texas. It is the only Dallas restaurant to remain in this category, with competitors in Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Mission, TX.

Regino Rojas of Revolver Taco Lounge was the second East Dallas restaurant that made the first round of the James Beard Awards semifinalist list in January.

Gemma’s restaurant team is still on the list for the Outstanding Hospitality award.

The Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony will be at the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC in Washington, D.C. Winners will be celebrated at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony on Monday, June 10, at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
