There are two real estate tenants guaranteed to raise a ruckus here in the neighborhood every time one is announced as a new tenant in a building: banks and Italian restaurants.

Turns out Italian local mini-chain Patrizio’s, primarily of Highland Park Village fame, has been snooping around Lakewood trying to find a spot for a new restaurant. With restaurants in Fort Worth, Highland Village, Plano and Fairview, this seems to be the type of restaurant (see menu) that the neighborhood “chain haters” would love. Yes, it’s a chain, of sorts, but it’s a local chain, along the lines of new Lakewood Shopping Village tenant Liberty Burger.

Anyway, the most recent site Patrizio’s was checking out was the former Rocket Science Salon spot in the building we occupy, Wells Fargo, at Gaston and Abrams. Rocket Science had a space looking out on Dixie House on the lower/plaza floor of the building, and outside is a huge, kind-of recessed patio area that would have been dynamic for a restaurant.

Alas, the deal didn’t make and the Rocket Science space reportedly has been leased to a general practitioner, with Patrizio’s still on the hunt for a space somewhere.
