I don’t normally concern myself with the hokie end-of-the-world mumbo jumbo, but since 12-21-12 is easily the most talked about Dooms Day prediction of all time, it’s hard not to get a little caught up in the excitement. And since said Dooms Day just so happens to land on a Friday (good thinking Mayans), I say the least we can do it have a little fun.
Which is why I think Goodfriend’s Hopocalypse party is so brilliant. Even if I do wake up on Saturday – which I fully expect and hope to – what’s the worst that can happen? OK, a lot of bad things can happen when you live a little too in-the-moment, but still. If the Apocalypse predictions aren’t enough of a motivational pull, the beer selection should be.
Goodfriend Beer Garden & Burger House plans to showcase six big IPAs including Lagunitas Brown Shugga (9.99%), Dogfish Head 120 Minute (18%), Sixpoint Resin (9.1%), Southern Star Pro Am 2012 (10%), Breckenridge 471 (9.2%) and Stone Enjoy By 12-21-12 (9.4%). Shot specials will also be offered, and local hillbilly band Fish Fry Bingo will take the stage at 10 p.m.
