Has anyone else noticed a distinct increase in panhandling in the commercial areas of Lakewood lately? Leaving the Dixie House on Sunday evening, I was approached twice between the restaurant door and my car. The second approach was unique in that it was a young couple who told how their apartment had burned and they were quick to display a Dallas Fire and Rescue report.
I was approached by someone else this evening in the parking lot as I left my Lakewood office. Perhaps it’s time to crank the "Give an Apple" campaign back up.
