Times Ten Cellars is the place to be this Thursday when the Lipscomb Elementary School PTA takes over the Prospect Avenue space for its Winter Silent Auction. From 6:30-9 p.m., sip wines and peruse items donated by local businesses and other school supporters. All proceeds will benefit Lipscomb. There is no charge to attend.

If you’re feeling lucky, head over to Stonewall Jackson’s Casino Night on Saturday, Jan. 26. The night begins at 7 p.m., with the Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament at 8 p.m. There will also be Craps and Black Jack, along with other delights throughout the night. Tickets are $80 in advance ($100 at the door) to take part in the casino, or $40 ($60 at the door) to enjoy the social event but not the games. Registration is available here.

It’ll feel like “Sixteen Candles” when Friends of Lakewood and Friends of Long team up to host a totally rad 1980s prom fundraiser. Neon and side ponytails will rule this Saturday at the Lakewood Country Club beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $80 and all proceeds benefit JL Long Middle School.

The Dallas Bach Society will offer a free concert at St. Matthew’s Cathedral Arts on Sunday. “An Afternoon with Drew Minter” begins at 4 p.m. and offers a collection of traditional German music ranging from the Minnesingers to the Baroque. Minter is a famed counter-tenor who has won awards all over the world, and is on the faculty of the music department at Vassar and Smith colleges. Get all the concert details here.

The Dallas Arboretum will celebrate Hollywood’s biggest night this Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. “A Night at the Oscars: Films, Wine & Winners” is hosted by journalist Gary Cogill and Hayley Hamilton Cogill, and features wines expertly paired with Oscar-nominated movies. Tickets are $59-$65 and available here.

New Year’s resolutions will be the theme during an open mic night at Union Coffee on Friday from 8-10 p.m. The Naked Stage hosts the regular events, inviting writers and performers to come down and share their words with a captive crowd. There is no charge to attend, get more details here.
