Perhaps the Moats family can experience some closure to the incident that occurred on March 18 when a Dallas police officer at gunpoint stopped Houston Texans running back Ryan Moats from entering the hospital where his mother-in-law was dying of cancer. On Friday, Officer Robert Powell issued an apology through his lawyers, admitting he “showed poor judgment and insensitivity”.

I think we can all agree with that, especially after watching the released dashboard video that we posted along with our blog about the incident. While tempers ran high in the Dallas area, Ryan Moats proved to be the eye of calm in the center of the hurricane. His self-restraint and dignity were a marvel to some, but according to an article by Dallas Morning News reporter Jean-Jacques Taylor, his friends and close acquaintances expected nothing less. True to character, Moats accepted Powell’s apology on Good Morning America. His wife, Tamishia Moats, also accepted it, but expressed her wish to hear the apology from the officer personally.
