Dallas police shot and killed a man near Garrett Park in Old East Dallas Sunday evening, according to a DMN story about the incident. The man was threatening people with a gun near Fairview and I-30 (across I-30 from Samuell-Grand Park), the story says, and witnesses followed the man in his car to the 1400 block of Garrett Avenue (near Bryan Street and Munger Boulevard), where police arrived and ordered the man to drop his gun. When he instead pointed the gun at police, two officers fired a number of shots, fatally wounding the man, the DMN story says. Since the shooting occurred near the park, where people were playing soccer, there appear to be a number of witnesses to the shooting; I’m sure more information will be forthcoming.
