It recently came to our attention, due to an article posted on KERA’s website, that members of the OccupyDallas movement had taken up residence in a house in Old East Dallas.

Though it was not made explicitly clear that this was the movement’s local headquarters the article did seem to imply that it was a sort of command center for those that actively participated in the Dallas protests.

Since the exact address was not specified we thought it was interesting and might deserve some checking into. However after much investigation and reaching out to the movement Tammy Leffall, one of the members of OccupyDallas who answers their email, responded and told us that, “We did have some individuals that stayed in an Occupy House, but to our knowledge they have left the state.”

We then asked her if the house did indeed serve as a headquarters of the group. She replied saying that, “Currently, we do not have a headquarters.  At one time, two individuals stated that their homes were headquarters, but I don’t believe it actually functioned as such.”

So just in case you were wandering around Lakewood looking for the “blue two-story, wood house” to join the cause, know that you are on a wild goose chase. If you would like information on how to get involved you can always check their OccupyDallas Facebook page.
