Everyone knows something about nutrition. We all eat, after all. But there is so much bad information out there regarding diet that sometimes it’s nice to hear from an expert. Anyone with burning questions about carbs, fat, calories, the food pyramid, or anything else nutritional should take advantage of the free classes this week at New Flower Market.
Registered dietician Maya Nahra will kick off a three-day nutrition series Wednesday with "Nutrition 101" from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., which covers the basics of nutrition and healthy eating. Nahra is back again Thursday for 30-minute personal consultation between noon and 4 p.m. There were seven appointments left when I talked to event coordinator Sarah Richards this morning. To reserve a spot, call her at 214-826-2937, or get her on e-mail at dal26events@sfmarkets.com.
Also on Thursday, Nahra is teaching a class called "Grocery Shopping 101," in which she will explain how to read nutrition labels and find things like hidden sugar sources. That’s from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Nahra wraps it up with a healthy cooking class Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and students may drop in any time.
