Café Salsera‘s tagline is “where salsa meets coffee,” which basically tells you everything you need to know about the restaurant. It’s a “salsa lounge with coffeehouse components,” spokesperson Alejandra Iraheta explains in an email, and it features a menu comprised of traditional Latin favorites with a twist.

The space, which is located at 2610 Elm St., is decorated with a Spanish colonial style atmosphere and features live music and outdoor dining.

The building was redesigned by contractor Bruce Russo to give it a “Caribbean courtyard illusion with its Spanish and Mediterranean architecture,” Iraheta says.

“Salsa enthusiasts can enjoy the restaurant’s unique Latin fusion menu that will serve an array of tasters, entrees and freshly baked pastries, handcrafted in its kitchen.”

There will be live Latin music and entertainment offered by their “salseras” (AKA their waitresses), who will occasionally perform, and special performances by salsa professionals.

If you don’t have time to sit and stay a while, the restaurant features a walk-up window where neighbors can grab a cup of coffee and pastry to go.
