Good art can make you look at something old in a totally new light — that’s what Tanner Ellison the winner of a national student photography contest hosted by the Society of Publication Designers has done with in this shot of a rusty old slide at White Rock Lake. (At first I thought it was the slide at the clearing near Van Dyke and Peavy in Old Lake Highlands, but upon zooming in, I’m not so sure).

The photo took the top spot over more than 250 other entries from all around, including an image of a surreal-looking iceberg in Antarctica by a student from Delaware (see it after the jump).
