While most people are exchanging flowers and candy this Valentine’s Day, Debbie Levin and Steve Haas will be exchanging houses.

Levin and Haas met when each was remodeling a home in our neighborhood. They fell in love and are engaged to be married.

They recently traded in their individual homes to buy a home together on Merrimac. The deal on their new house is scheduled to close Feb. 14, says their Realtor, Ebby Halliday sales associate Phyllis Zidell.

The date is a coincidence, Levin says, but a happy one.

“It’s the beginning of our new life together,” Levin says. “It will be a nice way to remember Valentine’s Day.”

Levin and Haas didn’t consider leaving our neighborhood when looking for a home.

“There’s so much to do in the neighborhood. It’s convenient for work and play. We love it,” says Levin, a pediatric nurse for Children’s Medical Center.

Haas is an account manager for EDS.

The couple’s new home is a 1920 Tudor renovated by Dave Megert. They plan to move into the house the weekend following Valentine’s Day.

“It has a lot of charm and stained glass,” Levin says. “It’s the kind of house both of us have always wanted.”

Realtor Honored for Patriotism

Dick Clements, president of Clements Realtors, recently was honored for excellence in community service by the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Greater Dallas Chapter.

Clements was honored for his promotion of patriotism in our community. Eight years ago, Clements began a U.S. flag giveaway during the Fourth of July holidays. This past summer, 6,500 flags were distributed to homes in our neighborhood.
