Neighbor Drew McWay is opening PRO Martial Arts, a national franchise with more than 40 locations across the U.S., in Lakewood in March.
PRO Martial Arts just finished construction on its new site in the shopping center on the northeast side of Mockingbird-Abrams, next to The Little Gym. The location is the first PRO Martial Arts in Dallas, and it will open for private lessons on March 1, and then host a grand opening on March 22, McWay says.
McWay says PRO Martial Arts is “a lot more than just kicking and punching.”
“So much of what we do is developing the character of our students,” he explains. “I look at is as more of a resource to parents than as an activity for children. It’s important to have someone apart from mom and dad who can be a role model for kids.”
PRO Martial Arts teaches important lessons about honor, respect, and confidence, McWay says. PRO Martial Arts also offers the Armor Program, which teaches kids how to stay safe from bullies and predators.
