Filming at Woodrow 2

Yesterday, Woodrow Wilson High School, like all the other schools in DISD, was a ghost town, marking the official beginning of Spring Break.

Filming at Woodrow 1Today, Wildcat Way is getting some Spring Break action. As in “lights, camera, action.”

The streets are lined with trucks marked “Film Fleet” and the student parking lots have been roped off for “crew parking” and “extras parking.” Film crews are out in full force, rolling heavy equipment around the grass.

NBC Universal has been out since early this morning, filming the pilot for a new TV series, “Salvation.” Unfortunately, that’s about all the friendly security officers could tell me, and Filming at Woodrow 4they weren’t allowed to let me on the premise. (Apparently they also ran off the Dallas Morning News around the same time I started sniffing around.) But even if they could tell me more, they don’t know a lot (or so they said.)

Luckily, Woodrow Wilson alum and superfan Kyle Rains sent us this link to the Dallas Film Commission, which says stars Ashley Judd and Stark Sands (Kinky Boots) from the TV show “Dallas,” will be making an appearance.

The release says the show is “a big family saga set against the backdrop of a Texas mega church, from Universal Television and David Janollari Entertainment.”

“When the pastor of a congregation dies, the matriarch of the Strickland family (Judd) rallies to keep the family together in this show about faith, family and all the complications that come with both,” the release continues. And Sands, a Dallas native, will play the eldest son Paul Strickland.

We’ve put in a call with the press manager and will let you know as soon as we hear back.
