At National Signing Day yesterday, high school seniors all over the country signed letters of intent committing to colleges they will represent in athletics.
Thankfully, here in East Dallas there were no big surprises that caused any mothers to walk out of the proceedings (that we know of).
Bryan Adams High School, who were co-district champions with Woodrow Wilson, had five players sign to play college football. Antoine Barnes will suit up for Angelo State University, James Carrington is headed to Bethany College in Kansas, Demond Easter is headed to Texas College at Tyler, Nick Murphy signed to play with defending Division II National Champions Texas A&M-Commerce and Marquithias Johnson will take his talents to Hiram College in Ohio.

At Woodrow, Zacori Alexander signed to play football at McNeese State in Louisiana, Matthew Castaneda signed to play baseball at Paris Junior College and Cade Fennegan signed to play football at the University of North Texas after he completes his mission for the Church of Latter Day Saints. Fennegan will join Cole McCreary on the UNT football team. Julia Van Witzenburg will row at the University of Texas, where Travis West also signed to play football. Darius Williams signed to play football at Austin College in Sherman.

Head Football coach Bob Estes presided over the signing day festivities. “One of the hardest things there is to do is earn a college athletics scholarship,” he said.
Over at Lakehill Preparatory, Gerard Franklin signed to play football for Texas A&M-Commerce. Franklin led Lakehill to the state playoffs in football this year and has been at Lakehill since kindergarten.
