In case you didn’t know, Dallas, and especially White Rock, is pretty much a running mecca. I mean, yeah, June in Texas isn’t the ideal time to start running or to run at all, but Texas runners tend to be stubborn, running when all good sense says, “stay inside, drink some tea, crank up the AC.”

So, here are two TRD events to attend tonight.

The Dallas Marathon and Miller64 hosts an 80s-themed Running Day party at White Rock Lake‘s Winfrey Point. Register at 5 p.m. $20. Get a T-shirt. The 4.4 mile run starts at 7 p.m. followed by a beer-garden party. Wear your best 80s getup and maybe win a prize. It doubles as a Dallas Marathon training kickoff program.

(That’s six months to train for the December marathon. Read our How to Run a Marathon post here.)

Also, the Dallas Running Club hosts an event at the White Rock DART station. This one is free, and the 5-mile or 5k “social run” begins at 7 p.m. Fuzzy Tacos, Sun & Ski Sports, Lakewood Brewery, Dallas Running Club Elite Team and more will be around offering food, beer and information, etc.
