Lucky’s Hot Chicken will open at 4505 Gaston Ave. in early 2020, Paper City reported.

The space was formerly Brinks Coffee Shop & Restaurant. Norman Brinker and wife, tennis player Maureen Connolly-Brinker, opened the eatery in 1964 in a 5,000-square-foot building built in the futuristic “googie” style.

He was so successful, he eventually established Brinker International, which operates Chili’s and Maggiano’s Little Italy.

In addition to being a coffee shop, the space was a laundromat. But it has been empty since 2014.

Lucky’s Hot Chicken is partnering with Nashville transplant and chef Josh Bonee to serve tenders, wings, breasts and thighs with five levels of spices. Sides include mac ‘n cheese, coleslaw and baked beans. Cool your flaming-hot mouth with a milkshake from a large selection of desserts.

Eat in the mid-century building or grab your to-go meal from the curbside pickup.

Hunter Pond, who also owns Hudson House, and Kyle Brooks of Vandelay Hospitality purchased the property.
